Item Shop prices cut

The Item Shop tab — the one on every NPC shop window, priced in eCoin — was built for a server where eCoin was bought with money. Here it is earned by turning up, so the prices were wrong by a wide margin. All 37 of them have come down.

The typical item went from 1,500 eCoin to 400. At the daily claim of 100 that is four days instead of fifteen. The most expensive item in the tab went from 8,000 to 1,600 — sixteen days rather than eighty. Nobody saves for eighty days; they stop opening the tab, which is exactly what was happening.

Two different cuts, depending on the item:

  • Things that run out were cut to a fifth. You buy those again and again, so the price is really a subscription, and a large number on something temporary is the worst kind of expensive.
  • Things you keep were cut to a third. Bought once and owned forever, so it is fair for those to cost a few days — just not a few weeks.

Nothing went below 50 eCoin. An item that costs nothing reads as worthless, and the point was to make the tab worth opening, not to give it away.

Alz prices are unchanged. This was only ever about the eCoin tab. Ordinary vendor goods cost what they always did — and with Alz gain at 20x, they already take a fraction of the effort they used to.
